Would you be able to tell me the difference between 'hesitate(verb)' and 'be hesitant(adjective)'? What would you feel when you hear the words?

Just for the record, I know what both mean. still I'm sure there certainly be a slightly difference. otherwise one of two will be an endangered species.

If I heard someone say "I'm hesitant" then I know that they do not really want to do that thing. For example, if i heard someone say "I'm hesitant to ride the subway." I would know that they didn't really want to ride the subway. They might also be a bit scared of the subway. Usually "to hesitate" is used when telling someone else what happened or is used in books.
