ครับ and ค่ะ are words that make a sentence more polite.

I am not sure about "yes" because >> please see below samples:

Give me some salt
= ส่งเกลือให้หน่อย

Can I have some salt?
= ขอเกลือหน่อยได้มั้ย

May I have some salt?
= ขอเกลือหน่อยได้มั้ยครับ; คะ

Actually "แค่เพื่อนครับเพื่อน" might be ambiguity since Thai series/ drama name sometimes plays with words.

Since I know the story, at the middle of the story lead actors can't tell their friend that they are boyfriends now.

So we break sentence to:

แค่เพื่อนครับ (he is just friend)
/เพื่อน (listener >> friends of the speaker)
= คุณเพื่อนทั้งหลายครับ คนนี้เป็นแค่เพื่อนเท่านั้นครับ

= แม่ครับ คนนี้เป็นแค่เพื่อนครับ

(ผมเป็น)แค่เพื่อนครับคุณน้า
