@TheHotSauce Yes, in Canada there are "regular" police in addition to the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP), who are often informally referred to as "Mounties". The RCMP is a federal police force that primarily operates in rural areas and provides certain provincial and municipal police services, but each province and territory also has their own provincial or municipal police force that operates within their jurisdiction. These police forces are responsible for maintaining law and order, enforcing laws and regulations, and responding to emergencies and incidents within their respective jurisdictions.

@ArbitraryInsanity Yeah, Mounties. I'm sorry I spelled it as Monties instead of Mounties, since the term 'Mounties' mean they come from the mountain.

The RCMP is the federal police force and therefore enforces federal laws. A good number of provinces do not have their own provincial police and the RCMP takes on enforcement of provincial laws, like speeding on highways, in those jurisdictions. And yes they are called Mounties because they are the Mounted Police, a tradition maintained mostly by the Musical Ride, although sometimes still in actual policing.
