Reckon is more of a suggestive verb based on one's opinions, whereas think is just a verb based on someone's opinion. Both can be used to give advice, but reckon tells you that the advice should be more paid attention to.
Ex: I reckon that you start doing the dishes.
Ex: I think you should start doing the dishes.
(Here, you can see that using "reckon" puts more force and demand to the suggestion; "think" just points that the person should do them, but not strong enough to actually make the person do it.)
*Reckon is more stern and demanding than think*
Ex: She reckons Stacey does not go to prom with Frank.
Ex: She thinks Stacey should not go to prom with Frank.
Once again, using "think" just puts her opinion out there, and while the advice is given, Stacey may still go to prom with Frank. But if she "reckons" that Stacey does not go, then Stacey may feel more obligated to follow her advice.
Does this make sense? I can try to elaborate if I did a terrible job😩
