有點不自然
@fluffyhusky "Not long after" refers to a specific time ("not long after he buys it"). I think it's because the sentence doesn't have a point in time referred to in it that it sounds strange.

"Chances are, he'll get tired of the game before too long." "Not long after" is grammatically fine, but it sounds a little off here.
