That is a biblical quote though, so if you want to use this in a casual setting you could say "You should treat people the way that you would like to be treated."

Try: You should do to others as you would have them do to you.
Or the more common expression is: You should do unto others as you would have them do unto you.

"Do unto others as you would have them do unto you" is the way of saying it that I'm most familiar with. "unto" is old fashioned English, it has the same meaning as "to" in this case.
