I haven't ever seen "The King's Men" used to refer to police, but "kingsman" was a ranking in the British army, and it's clearly understood in the context. As for what it would be in Spanish, that's tough, since the implied reference doesn't exist outside of English... You'd probably have to just say "la bofia" or something and not attempt to translate it literally as "los hombres del rey", otherwise it may be lost in translation.

"cops" is colloquial, but it's also used by cops themselves and isn't considered rude or offensive by them. There are worse terms, such as "the pigs" or "the filth".
