When I watched news in CNN student with Japanese subtitles, there is a mysterious question and answer. The Interviewer said "Would you go to Mars?", then a man who is the respondent said "Yesterday". I cannot understand why he answered so. Moreover, the word was translated as "any time" into Japanese. Could anyone tell me?

He means that, if he could, he would have gone to Mars yesterday. He wants to go as soon as humanly possible.

it's a figure of speech. <-- not meant to be take literally
for example...
person A: "we got paid today"
person B: "yeah, but I needed to get paid like yesterday" <-- this response is like implied that he was in need of money.
Normally people would not respond by just saying "Yesterday". Usually there is more to it to imply Sarcasm.
