Were — past tense (tapos na ang kilos); ginagamit kapag madami abg tinutukoy mo at hindi isa lang.
Was — past tense (tapos na ang kilos); ginagamit kapag isang tao lang ang tinutukoy mo.

They were dancing. They = madami.
