While awkward and embrassed can both be 尴尬, embrassed can be 不好意思.
Awkward is an expression that the thing/situation/subject is socially uncomfortable. For example, an awkward silence means that the atmosphere is uncomfortablely quiet.
Embarrassed is an emotion that a person express/feels due to some shortcomings or some actions that puts the person in a position that is usually socially frowned upon. It can also express a situation where the person who is shy is to execute something he/she is not comfortable with.

If you say:
尴尬的场面
It would be right to put it as 'an awkward scenario'. This is slightly different from an embarrassing scenario (丢人现眼的场面)
