Is my understanding right, that the restaurant is “awarded” the branding iron because they serve excellent pork dishes.

@lnjn The sentence could do with some commas. Here's one way...

The restaurant took home the coveted branding iron, for excellence in pork presented annually, in the conference.

Commas can go where you like to make it read better.
