Hmm, that’s a strangely ambiguous response. The “I am going to link you to the PR department at XYZ to follow up.” sentence doesn’t make it clear whether the writer will be giving the department your information for them to contact you or if the writer expects you to make further communications with the department yourself. I suppose it depends on whether there was any other information included in the message. An email address, phone number, or social media account for someone other than the writer? Or an actual link to a website? If not, then you should assume that the PR department will contact you themselves, although it might be wise to double-check by responding to the writer of the message to clarify that this is the case yourself.

Thank you Meikora! I was upset when I couldn't figure out the meaning of the sentence, and it is good to know that it might sound ambiguous to the native speakers as well. She did not provide me with info, but CC'd the message to three other guys, some of whom I presume are from the said department. I guess I will doublecheck with the writer, many thanks for your help!
