Hello guys. I have two questions regarding the verb "to head".

1. Is it used with the preposition "to" or "for"?
ex:
a. He heads for the hotel.
b. He heads to the hotel.

2. Do these two following sentences have the same meaning?
a. He heads to/for the hotel.
b. He is headed to/for the hotel.

The question number 2 is the one I care the most to be honest. Please, any help will be appreciated. Thanks in advance 💙
