Confectionaries are sweet, like a piece of candy.
A snack is a small portion of food or a light meal, especially one eaten between regular meals. Snacks are not necessarily sweet but could be.
In the US people usually say 'sweets' instead of 'confectionaries'.

Please note that we 'Muricans like to spell it Confectionary, while them Brits like to spell it Confectionery. Also, using the word confectionary will make you sound pretentious. The only possible acceptable use is when talking about the candy shop. Ex. Oh, Willy Wonka owns a confectionary that makes chocolate. He's even got his own Internet meme as a condescending pedant.

I see! I found the word Confectionary on a couple of Japanese-English dictionaries. Seika in Japanese, which means making snacks, cookies, muffins, cakes, bread, buns, and so on, is translated to Confectionery. I often think that it's not very helpful for me to use a Japanese-English dictionary. so I prefer to use HiNative. Thank you so much for your answers!
