The word 'sounds' in "a burger sounds good" means it "seems good" :)

In English when something 'sounds good' it can often mean the same as 'sounds like a good idea' or 'sounds like a good thing to do'. Which means it is a thing that you want to do, 'a good idea'.
In Japanese there are a few ways of saying this, like 「バーガーはいい考えと思います。」とか「バーガーを食べたい！！」のような感じです。

@yukari520129: "sounds" means that a burger would be a good option like "getting a burger sounds good."
"smell" is used to say that the Fries just smell good (she probably means that they will be tasty)
and "fruit cup" is a word for a drink, its just called like that, "fruit a cup" doesn't make sense in this case

The other responses answered your first two questions perfectly! For the last question I agree I think it makes more sense as "an apple or (a) fruit cup", but it also sounds correct the way the book has it. Either way would sound natural.
