有點不自然
"I would make it famous for tourism" sounds like you are going to make the city famous just for having good tourism services.
I would instead say:
"If I were the city's mayor, I would make it famous for being a great tourist destination."
You could also interject the city name for a more punctual statement. So, let's say the city's name is New York: "If I were the city's mayor, I would make New York famous for being a great tourist destination."
