@caPtainteemo: The use of an apostrophe is a very common practice in languages that use the Latin alphabet to show that a letter or a group of letters is missing. Can't = Cannot, the letter "O" has been removed and replaced with a apostrophe. This can be seen with a lot of words, Goin' = Going, Shouldn't = Should Not, other languages include German = Hab' = Habe (Have) Croatian = Kol'ko = Koliko (How many), as stated, you will frequently come across this in languages that use the Latin alphabet. It is usually a "slang" way of saying something without proper pronunciations it is not well known but the use of contractions in formal writing is discouraged in English (though this is very rarely followed anymore.)

Can't is just the contraction of cannot. They are basically the same word
