@aryrang I think it means that technology can be considered less flawed where humans in control can be distracted or slow to react when in control of a car. Taking out the human factor can make transportation safer.

I have a question for you. Help me, please .
The context below is a part of article about self-driving cars.
“By taking out individuals in the transportation equation you also remove most of the likelihood for an accident.” Consumers may at first be reluctant to give up control. “It's going to take time for them to come to realize that the technology is indeed reliable, but it will have to prove itself first.”
I can't understand the first part i.e. "By taking out individuals in the transportation equation "
Does that mean "By not considering human beings in transportation area"?
But considering the accident, safety of human beings is the most important thing.
I don't think we should rule out a person's safety, so I ask you a question.

It means that if the car is not being driven by a person (similar to an autopilot in an airplane), there will be less accidents. The reason behind this is that people sometimes makes wrong decisions or reaction time is slow. But personally i don't like selfdriving cars:)
