"last for" does not make sense in this context.
However, "last until" does make sense. You could say something like "The habits of age three last until the age of eighty"
"last for" is used when you are specifying the length/duration that something happens for (not when it stops, but rather how long it occurs).
For example, you could say something like "The habits of age three last for 77 years" or more broadly "The habits of age three last for decades"
