You're keeping an eye on the distant future.

Focus would mean "concentrate" and "look" is more like trying to "foresee".

"Keep an eye on" is looking after or taking care of.

「んだね」is a little hard to explain actually. haha
But I'll try :))
It's colloquial.

In that case,
（あなたは）遠い未来を見据えているんだね means （あなたは）遠い未来を見据えているね

If I would say that formally,
遠い未来を見据えていますね

Hmm...
I guess "look into" is closer :)
（先を/未来を/将来を）見据える is like "you already see/think your future properly"
So probably you act thinking your future (for example, saving money for your future) or you have a plan/plans in the future or you have your thoughts about future.
Something like that :)
